A quality robot vacuum cleaner can make a big difference in reducing allergens, such as pet hair and dust. Not all models are identical.

There are many options available for you to choose from, whether you need an animal-friendly vacuum or a robot to complement your other cleaner.

1. Eufy RoboVac Edge G30

The G30 Edge, the latest model from Eufy's budget-friendly series of robotic vacuum cleaners, is the most up-to-date model. It's a sleek black design with blue and rose-gold accents that look like a smartphone. This model is easier to use than previous models and offers features such as BoostIQ that automatically boosts suction power for better cleaning on all surfaces. It also employs intelligent navigation to avoid repeating the same spots repeatedly, which is a common problem when using bounce-navigation systems.

It does a good job cleaning pet hair, crumbs and dust on hard floors, but falls behind the Best vacuum lidar for pet hair models in terms of getting rid of dust from carpet. In our tests, it missed 74% of the dust on hard floors and 26% of the powder on carpet.

The G30 Edge is unique in its ability to map out your home with digital maps. This allows it to keep track of the rooms it has cleaned before and avoid returning to those rooms which is a major issue with simpler robots that require the use of magnetic tape to mark off areas that are not allowed to enter.

The G30 Edge also has other features. It has an "Find My Robot" mode that plays loud music until it is found and a directional keyboard that lets you manually move the robot. It also has an automatic return feature that sends the robot back to its charging station if the battery is low. This is a safety feature.

2. Neato Botvac D-Shape

The Neato Botvac D-Shape an extremely capable robot that comes with a plethora of features that are smart. It can clean floors well and climb up carpets with high piles with ease. The app offers advanced features like boundary lines and remote access to the robot when it is operating and a host of other options.

This model is the latest in a long-running series of Neato robots. It is unique because it has a "D shape when seen from above. The design offers a number of advantages, including better corner cleaning and a larger container of dust than other models. The D-shape design also allows the robot to get under furniture more easily than robots that have a circular shape.

When first starting a cleaning cycle when cleaning, the D-Shape will stop for a moment to use spinning infrared lasers to scan and evaluate the space. It will then begin to clean in a grid pattern, moving systematically from one area to another until the floor is completely covered. This method of cleaning is much more efficient and thorough than the random approach used by other companies.

The d-shape design also allows the D-Shape's large dust bin that is 700ml, compared to 400- 600ml for similar-priced robots. That increased capacity means you'll have to empty the bin less often, saving your time and effort. The D-Shape also has a flat front that helps it get around obstacles such as tables and chairs. In our tests, the D-Shape did get stuck under a stool with four legs and an electrical cord that was exposed, though it was able to break free every time.

3. Roomba I3+ EV

The Roomba i3+ EVO is a great choice for pet owners. It works well on hard floors, and does a good job of cleaning up debris such as pet hair, rice, cereal and other small particles. It isn't as good on carpets however it's still better than other robots in this price. The Roomba EVO is also adept at navigating between various flooring types. It doesn't get stuck in transitions like the older models. The dual multi-surface brushes are flexible and adjust to different flooring types. They also aren't able to tangle pet hair.

The i3+ EVO's obstacle avoidance isn't as strong as some of the other robots we tested, and it repeatedably hit objects in our tests such as handbags shoes, and pet toys before continuing its course. It also had difficulty with coarse sea salt, which it did a whirlwind of instead of picking up.

The i3+ EVO comes with a host of features that make it worth the cost over other Roomba models. These include the ability to self-empty the bin and more advanced control via an app. It is possible to plan cleaning times, set specific routines and set zones that do not want the robot be allowed to enter. The smart scheduling system can suggest additional cleanings during high allergy times based on your regular routine. Its navigation system isn't reliable and often vacuums in irregular patterns such as diagonals or zigzags instead of parallel to walls.

4. Shark AI Self-Empty, XL

This intelligent robot is able to trace your home's layout in detail and better than you. It also has two brushes that can be adjusted to different flooring types and prevent tangling, which makes it the perfect option for homes with pets. You can control the robot using the app, or use it hands-free using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The dock, named Omni, automates the tasks of cleaning and refilling the robot's water tank and debris bin, emptying it and charging and drying the mop pads.

It's a fantastic value. The Shark AI Self-Empty XL is cheaper than a lot of other robots on our list, yet it offers advanced features, such as mapping and an automatic self-emptying dustbin which holds a decent amount of debris. We tested it in a home with a mix between bare floors and low-pile carpeting and found it to maneuver and clean exceptionally well, including getting into corners. The vacuum does an excellent job of picking up pet fur on carpeting. However it's not as powerful much power as our top picks.

However the Roborock S4 Max is better constructed, requires less time to recharge than the Shark and comes with a wider range of automated and scheduling options as well as support for zones that are not allowed to be used. Shark is still a good option if you're looking to buy something less expensive or prefer to manage and control your system using your phone rather than using a remote.

5. Bissell SpinWave Dry and Wet

It's difficult to find a machine that can combine mopping and vacuuming, but this one does exactly that. The two tank system is powerful and can vacuum or mop with the push of a button. In our tests, it was able to easily switch between different surfaces and was excellent at picking up pet fur from hardwood floors and carpets. It also has an edge-sweeping tool for removing hair from walls and baseboards.

This robot is a great pick if you want an affordable model with some additional features. It was able to navigate obstacles well during our testing and can be controlled by an app or voice. It even has scheduled cleaning and has a large dustbin to collect mess before they get full. It could take up to 166 minutes to complete its work however, it is faster than other robots that we have tested.

The main feature of this robot is its front-facing camera that allows you to monitor the cleanliness of your home on live maps in the app. This is especially useful when you're trying to locate a specific item, or if your kids have spilled glitter from your festive decorations all over your floor. You can avoid a lot frustration by finding the item you lost immediately. The lithium batteries that do not fade can last for up to 130 minutes on a single charge.

6. Roomba 694

The Roomba 694 is an elegant robot that provides excellent cleaning. It is very adept at moving itself and is able to reach under furniture without becoming stuck. It's also ideal for carpets and rugs with low pile. It can get stuck on rug tassels and it's difficult to maneuver small spaces, such as corners. It also has difficulty picking up pet hair from all surfaces.

The 694 is still superior than most of its competitors despite its limited features. It got a perfect score of 10 in our cereal carpet test and passed our test for cat litter with only a couple of scattered pieces. It's less effective on hardwood floors, though. Its side brush is often scattered with large, clinging cereal bits instead of vacuuming them. It also had a hard time collecting table salt on a floor that was not paved, as a lot of grains fell across the floor.

It allows voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant using an external device (sold separately). It learns your cleaning habits and gives you a customized schedule. Cliff Detect and an edge-sweeping brush ensure that it can get into hard-to-reach corners, while Dirt Detect sensors alert it to areas that are heavily soiled. It comes with a dust bin that automatically emptys and it has a battery life of around 60 minutes. The pricier iRobot j7 has a more advanced suite of features and is better on all surfaces. It also feels better constructed and has a bigger dust bin it charges faster and navigates obstacles like electrical cords with ease.
