While the Anker-owned Eufy has made an impact in low-cost robot vacuums it's not yet an all-in-one model which can also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that offers a range of features that are advanced and can compete with more expensive models.

The laser navigation is the main selling point of this machine. The X8 utilizes a laser mapping system that is more accurate than previous Eufy devices. It also takes a lot less time to build up a comprehensive picture of your home and can store multiple maps, which is ideal for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is still a decent vacuum on bare floors that can carry debris under its side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin with relative ease. Its tyres are also very adept at securing edges and corners, even though they are circular. Our tests revealed that it could only remove 90 percent of the fur from hard floors.

There's a basic mopping mode which uses the same water tank as the vacuuming. This is ideal for spills that are not too dangerous, but you are unable to control the amount of water it uses. It does a good job in removing hair from pets. It has a higher pick-up rate than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, effective appliances. It has a beautiful design, a great navigation system and an impressive cleaning power. It has a few oddities in its operation, which prevent it from being named the top smart robot vacuum.

The RX2 comes with a dual-sensor mapping technology that uses a LIDAR to map the space, and a pair 3D scanning cameras to detect and eliminating obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once the room is mapped the app allows you to assign virtual no-go areas and favorite sections that the robot will automatically clean. The RX2 is equipped with excellent sensors that can detect furniture and other obstructions instantly. Although the app isn't the most responsive and the 980 may spin out a bit when moving over cables, it's still an extremely efficient robot vacuum.

One thing we really like about the 980 is the fact that it utilizes its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors as well as visual simultaneous mapping and localisation technology (or vSLAM) to remember the floor plan of your home. It then uses the information to create an efficient and consistent cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a cleaner vacuum than other high-end robot vacuums.

Other features include dual multi-surface rubber brushes which grab dirt from carpets and hard floors as well as an ejector brush that moves debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. Its floor tracking sensors aid it navigate around furniture and along edges, while Cliff Detect helps to prevent the Roomba from falling down stairs.
