This robot's LIDAR mapping sensor is located just above. This can prevent it from being able to reach under furniture with low levels such as sofas and tables. This is a good choice for those who don't mind that it's a bit higher than other models. Be aware that this model isn't equipped with a HEPA filter like some of the other models on this list.

Precision Home Mapping

Shark's Matrix Clean Navigation uses a precise grid that leaves no area unexplored and a powerful suction draws dirt dust and debris into a self-emptying 60 day capacity bagless base. Precision home mapping combines 360deg LiDAR vision with a precise home map in the SharkClean app to allow for completely autonomous movement and intelligent object avoidance. It creates a detailed map of your living space, whether at night or day, to allow full navigation without causing damage to furniture or other obstructions. This means your robot can be left to complete a cleaning schedule or you can start Matrix cleaning on demand and set room-specific targets anywhere within the app.

Powerful Suction

The RV2502AE is an excellent mid-range robot cleaner that checks all the boxes. It is easy to use, creates accurate home maps, and has an automatic bag emptying system. It's also less expensive to run than many other robot vacuums.

It is loaded with power. It uses its side brushes to move hair and carpet fibers into the brushroll. This helps prevent the accumulation and blockage of the brushroll as seen on other robotic vacuums, and makes this one more efficient in removing pet hair.

Besides its high suction and self-emptying base, this robot vacuum and mop bagless features Matrix Clean Navigation for a comprehensive cleaning, Precision Home Mapping for objects to avoid, a high-efficiency HEPA filter that traps 99 percent of odors dust mites and allergens and has two power modes for various floor types and a remote control that grants you full access to all of its functions. It's also compatible with voice assistants, such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant and allows you to begin cleaning without having to touch the robot.

While it's a great option for the majority of homes but some may find its navigation capabilities problematic. This bump bot had trouble with stairs. Other bump bots can avoid them, but this one couldn't. It relied on LiDAR and infrared sensors to map the house, but it kept mistaking my cat condo for stairs and asked me to move it away from the way. In addition, it only ran for 180 minutes before running out of power, which was shorter than the advertised time.

Self-Empty Base

A few robots - including this one - feature self-emptying bases which vacuum or dump the debris that is in the onboard dustbin into an external dirt container to make maintenance easier. They are referred to as the Clean Base Dirt Disposal by iRobot, Auto Empty Station by Ecovacs or bagless cleaning robots Self Emptying Base by Shark. These are a convenient option however they can be noisy and messy. They usually require special disposal bags.

This Shark model comes with a HEPA-filtered bagless base and has an impressively large capacity. It can hold up to 60 days worth of debris and doesn't need emptying on a daily basis as some other models. There's also a hefty dose of incredible Shark suction to take on the biggest messes. The only downside is that the docking station's vacuum system to empty the dust bin on board is quite loud.

When the robot is plugged in and charging it will sound an alarm and a green light at its top will blink to indicate that it's prepared to start cleaning. If the battery of the robot is low, it will dock itself to its base and cease to work until it's fully charged. It's important that the dock or Self-Empty Base is positioned where it can't be obstructed by furniture or other objects, and is clear of any obstructions in the area in front of it.

This model is slightly more expensive than other models of robotic mops in the mid-range we've tried. However, it is better built and performs better on flat floors. It also has longer battery life and less maintenance requirements. It also comes with more extensive range of capabilities for automation, like virtual boundary markers. The iRobot Roomba i7 is still our top pick, because it feels more durable and refined it charges faster and is able to be caught on rug tassels fewer often. It also has a higher capacity for its battery.

Easy Setup

The Shark AI Ultra has a simple to use Schedule that requires just a few inputs. You can choose the day and time of sunset and sunrise as well as the duration of the ramp times (increasing or decreasing the brightness) and if you would like to switch on the lights when it gets dark.

It does not have smart mapping or voice control like Alexa and Google Assistant but it has a highly useful, free programming suite.
