This is the outrageous moment a drunk man is caught racing at 100mph on the M40 hard shoulder while a crying child sat in the passenger seat.

Miley Connors, 37, was caught on dash cam footage swerving uncontrollably in between rows of cars as he sped down the southbound carriageway of the M40 on December 29, 2021.

Cops were called at around 4.10pm after other shocked motorists reported a silver SUV driving recklessly along the motorway in what one officer described as the 'worst piece of driving' she had ever seen.

Video shows Connors, who was drunk and had a young child in the passenger seat, zooming down the hard shoulder, crashing and driving off before he decided to pull over to the side of the road to urinate and throw up.

He was then swiftly arrested by police and began verbally abusing officers who drove him to a nearby hospital, where he continued his foul-mouthed rant, which caused a member of the public to faint.

Dash cam footage of the harrowing ordeal shows Connors racing down the hard shoulder of the southbound carriageway of the M40 at over 100mph

He was swerving in between traffic, initially in Warwickshire before crossing into Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, all while a terrified young child was sat in the passenger seat.

His car then hit the central reservation on the Shabbington bend between junctions nine and 8A, causing it to spin and lose a tyre.

Miraculously, he did not hit any other other vehicles and continued driving to the overbridge near Worminghall, where he got out and started urinating and vomiting.

At the same time, the child got out of the car and ran away up by the embankment.

One woman who reported the incident to police said it was 'really awful' and had left her 'shaken up'. She added that she saw Connors 'urinating against his car' before seeing a 'young lad running up the side of the embankment'.

Police launched a desperate search for the pair after finding the SUV abandoned on the side of the motorway.

Officers enlisting the help of a helicopter from the National Police Air Service to track them down to a nearby field, where the 37-year-old continued throwing up.

Officers arrested Connors, who was charged the following day and safeguarded the child.

Police found Connors and the child in a nearby field. One officer said the 'child was found wet, muddy and cold, and stood over Miley Connors, who was throwing up'

Investigating officer PC Amy Boughton, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: 'This was one of the worse pieces of driving I have ever seen.

'Not only is it shocking to watch, it's gut-wrenching to know there was a young child in that vehicle, scared and crying.

'The child was found wet, muddy and cold, and stood over Miley Connors, who was throwing up and incapable of looking after them.

'I can only hope that Connors take this second chance and makes recompense for the lives he could have so easily taken because of his reckless actions.'

Connors was caught on police body cam footage launching at foul-mouthed tirade at officers after questioning why he was being arrested.

He was later taken to hospital where his insults continued, causing one member of the public to faint.

Connors, of Scant Road East, Hambrook, West Sussex, was found guilty of one count each of dangerous driving and child neglect at Oxford Crown Court on 16 February.

He was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for two years, at the same court on April 12.

The judge also disqualified Connors from driving for two years and he will need to pass an extended retest to get his licence back.

The judge also ordered Connors to complete 250 hours of unpaid work, 120 days of alcohol monitoring, and an accredited thinking skills programme within 20 days, as well as paying £3,000 in a fine and costs.
