Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are great for strolling around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design makes it easy to maneuver, even in tight spots.

Sturdy frame

Figures have just been released showing that the three-wheeled buggie which was a symbol of the decade of more money than wisdom - is in steep decline. Four-wheelers have replaced them, which are more versatile and easy to drive, while also looking elegant.

MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy on an infant and a 3 wheel stroller with seat-year-old child and found it to be very sturdy. It was able to withstand cobbles, grass and rough pavements as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. She noted that it was sturdy to push, and extremely solid on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable, so require occasionally pumping) offer built-in suspension which was extremely comfortable for my children.

Another thing to take into consideration is the seat size and shape. You will want it to be big enough for your child's comfort. You will also need it to recline for them to lie flat. Certain three-wheel buggies come with the option of lying flat that lets your child face you, while other buggies only allow a parent-facing one.

A great option for those who want to tackle off-road and muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. Certain three-wheeled buggies have wheels that swivel on the front, which help you navigate tight corners. Others are designed for running and have fixed wheels that lock for increased speed and stability. This is particularly useful when you bump against a tree or a kerb. The front wheel will be lifted slightly to prevent hitting it.

Many lightweight 3 wheel stroller wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres that allow them to tackle a broad range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They are also lighter. They are more prone to punctures, so you will need to have repair kits and an spare inner tube in your arsenal.

The buggies also have suspension that according to Kath "smooths out bumps with great efficiency".

Buggies with larger wheels can be quite wide and can be difficult to fit into narrow spaces. This is an issue if you're using it as a jogger or you need to maneuver through narrow doorways when out and out and about. Fortunately, the majority of models come with compact folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels to create more compact storage.

Easy to maneuver

One of the primary benefits to a three-wheeled buggy is that it is much more maneuverable, especially with a child in the back. The way in which they are built ensures that the front wheels turn on a dime and are incredibly maneuverable which makes them perfect for difficult terrains such as parks, cobbles, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried out a three-wheeler with her toddler and newborn and wrote: "The Terrain was a pleasure to maneuver over tough ground with the swivel rear wheel being particularly helpful. I was also awed by how well it handled kerbs when using the hand-operated break. It was very stable for descending or on a rough terrain."

The only drawback to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel umbrella stroller-wheel buggy may make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something you should be aware of if your home area is a city. If this is a problem then a 4-wheeler might be a better choice for you.
