Its most impressive characteristic is its outstanding obstacle avoidance. While mapping, it captures pictures of objects it comes across and then learns their position within your home, so you can teach it to avoid or clean around them. You can also make use of the app to draw an outline of your rooms and pinpoint specific areas you want it to avoid. The j7+ will send you a picture of every obstacle it has encountered, allowing you to mark them as temporary or permanent obstacles to avoid.

In our tests, it was able to overcome a myriad of household obstacles without getting stuck or chewing up cords and shoes like previous models. It even gave the pet waste a wide space (although it did tangle with baseball caps and socks). It was also excellent at picking up larger spills and crumbs.

This robot is able to vacuum and mop regularly, which is great when you prefer to mop your floors. It was a success in cleaning both surfaces in our apartment that was mostly hardwood floors, and a few area rugs. The mops took longer than we'd prefer, but it left the floor surprisingly clean.

2. iRobot Roomba j9 Combo Plus

The J9 Combo Plus robot is the top of the line Roomba. It is compatible with carpets and has iRobot’s smartest features. Dirt Detective is one of the most advanced features. It can be set to repeat cleaning passes and then examine your home to find out which rooms are prone to dirt. It also features a self-cleaning station, which automatically empty garbage bags and refills the tank with water.

The Combo J9's minimalist design blends black and silver. It has one button that can launch a cleaning job, as well as a status indicator and wall follow sensors. It also has a remarkable amount of suction, averaging 4000Pa. This is easily higher than the combined 2,000Pa from the Roomba 13 or Bissell SpinWave. The battery has a large capacity at 5200mAH, giving you plenty of clean time.

This model is compatible with iRobot OS, which means it will receive updates to its software in the moment they become available. The app allows you to send images of obstacles encountered by the robot to iRobot servers to improve its algorithms. iRobot claims that it only uses images of users who have opted for this user-involved training and that they don't use them for any other purposes.

The physical controls of the DreameBot are limited. The majority of options are accessible via the iRobot Home App or Google Home and Alexa. You can select manually a particular spot to clean or start a general cleaning, and you can enlist either vacuuming or mopping on a single timer. The app lets you create an agenda of weekly, daily and mopping cycles or a manual cycle.

To get the most out of the Narwal robot, you'll need to create a custom floor plan within its app so that it can determine where to go. After that it's time to begin cleaning by pressing the button on the robot or its base station. 5. iRobot Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro is part of Roborock's mid-range lineup and sits below the S8 series. This model uses PreciSense navigation to move around the house efficiently, and a DuoRoller scrubber brush to eliminate dried-on stains as it cleans. It has a larger onboard dustbin of 770 ml and an auto-emptying docking system that helps to minimize maintenance tasks.

It has a suction force of 5,500 psi, and a dual roller brush that can remove pet hairs and dirt from carpets without getting caught in. The Roborock app allows it to be controlled via the Roborock app. The app also offers other useful features like setting digital keep-out areas as well as a fast cleaning mode for changing the pattern of cleaning.

Despite its powerful performance, the Q5 Pro has some drawbacks. It can get tangled on stray items such as power cords and has a tendency of bumping into furniture or knocking items off shelves.
