Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are ideal for walking around the neighborhood or running. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight spaces.

For a smooth ride, go for a pram fitted with air-filled tyres and look for models with 360deg front swivel wheels. They are, however, susceptible, to punctures. Be prepared with an emergency repair kit.

Sturdy frame

Recent figures have been released that show that the three-wheeled buggy which was a symbol of the decade of more money than sanity - is in steep decline. They are being replaced by four-wheelers that are able to handle a wider range of terrain, while also looking swanky and being easy to push.

The bigger the wheels are the better your buggy can deal with uneven surfaces and bumpy pavements. The larger wheels, both front and rear enable you to maneuver and more stable while walking downhill or in difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy on an infant as well as a child who was 3 years old and found it extremely durable. It was able to handle cobbles, grass, and rough pavements, aswell as dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath wrote "it is solid to push and extremely solid when traversing difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable, so require occasional pumping) offer built-in suspension, which was very comfortable for my children.

Another thing to consider is the seat size and shape. You will want it to be big enough for your child's comfort and you will also require it to recline to allow them to lie flat. Certain three-wheel buggies come with a lie-flat option that allows the child to face you, whereas others only allow a face-to-parent one.

Wheels with a greater diameter

Larger wheels give your buggy more stability when driving on rough terrain. This is ideal for buggies designed for off-road use. They also allow you to maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Some three-wheeled buggies come with rotating wheels on the front to assist you in navigating tight corners. Others are designed to run and have fixed wheels that lock for increased speed and stability. This is also helpful if you bump into a tree root or stray kerb as the front wheel can be lifted up a bit to prevent you from hitting it.

A majority of 3 wheel pushchairs come with air-filled tyres, which means they can handle many different terrains and are more adaptable than 4-wheelers. They also tend to be lighter. However, they're susceptible to punctures, so you'll need to have a repair kit, spare tube, and pump on hand.

Buggies with larger wheels may be quite wide and can be difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is an issue if you plan to are using it as a jogger or have to squeeze through doorways that are narrow while out and about. Many models have compact folding options that permit you to take off the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.

Easy to maneuver

A three-wheeler can be more maneuverable for a child. They are designed so that the front wheels turn on a dime, and are easy to maneuver, making them perfect for terrains that are difficult, such as cobblestones, parks as well as bumpy roads and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her toddler and newborn and wrote: "The Terrain was a delight to maneuver on the ground with the swivel rear wheel particularly useful. I was also impressed by how well it dealt with bumps, particularly when using the brake operated by hand. I found it extremely steady when I was driving downhill or over uneven ground."

This is something you need to be aware of when you live in a city. If this is a problem then a 4-wheeled buggy could be the better choice for you.
