Seats

The majority of 3 wheel jogger wheel double buggies start life as single pushchairs, although some models can be converted to accommodate the seat of a second person or carrycot by converting adapters (these are usually more common in tandem buggies). You'll also find that some models will allow you to add a ride-on board to older children who would like to walk but require a little help.

Take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo for an ideal, lightweight solution for city streets. It's easy to maneuver and has a deep basket with plenty of storage space. It can be used to accommodate twins as young as birth and accommodate two car seats as well as seats and a carrycot. The seats must be facing toward the forward direction and there isn't room to store an item under the seat. You will need an additional side bag.

If you like to go off-road, the Mountain Buggy Duet is a excellent option. It is a side by tandem with the smallest footprint of any double buggy that is available. It is easier to get through narrow doors, on public transport and to climb over and over kerbs. The adjustable handlebar features an additional handbrake for safety and security.

The iCandy Orange is one of the most popular double buggies that are available due to its outstanding comfort. It's an all-terrain model with soft suspension that can easily handle bumpy surfaces. It offers 30 different seating options as well as a built-in table for older children who prefer walking, and a "cinema mode' that raises the back seats to provide better visibility.

Alternately, the phil&teds dots is a brilliant single buggy from day 1 that can then easily adapt to take 2 (or 3 wheel double pushchair!) Different configurations are possible. This is especially helpful for parents with children in a car seat, since the frame can be equipped with a wedgie that allows for optimal position, and also car seat adapters to a wider range of brands.

Suspension

The suspension of a double 3-wheel buggy will determine the ease with which you and your child/children can push it. It is essential to have a smooth ride as babies can feel every bump on the road. This is especially relevant if you drive on rough terrain, such as grass or roads that aren't paved. Some models have front tires that lock to help maneuver and get over obstacles like curbs.

Some models have tyres with air filled that are great for all-terrain riding, however they are susceptible to punctures. Make sure you have an extra set of tyres inside the trunk. Other models use gel or foam tyres that are designed to withstand bumps and can be less susceptible to punctures, however, you may find them to be a bit stiff and uncomfortable on your child's back when you decide to run.

MFM reviewer Kath tested the Urban Glide 2 with her newborn and cheap 3 wheel buggy-year-old and found it exceptionally adept on terrains that are difficult to traverse. "It navigated effortlessly across bumpy sidewalks and grass cobbles, dirt tracks. It was also easy for me to maneuver around corners and climb up and down kerbs." Folding

A 3 wheel double buggy can fold very well for storage. There are models that fold flat and stand up (as if they're in a pushchair position) as well as ones that pop out to reveal a more umbrella-like fold that has an electric brake. The more wheels a buggy has, generally the easier it will be to maneuver through rough terrain. This is especially relevant when the wheels are bigger than the average. This will provide you with more stability and make it less likely that your children will fall over or tip over.

If you want to jog with your children it is the best double buggie for jogging because it has a lockable front wheel that can help you remain in control when you're tackling off-road or hilly tracks. It also has a spacious undercarriage basket, an adjustable handlebar and soft suspension for comfortable riding.

This is a light compact model that folds with just one hand. It is perfect to take on trips. It's compatible with a wide range of infant car seats and comes with an undercarriage basket that can be pulled out that can be used to store shopping. It's a bit costly however it comes with certain standout features, such as its one-click folding and many extras, including bumper bars or raincovers.

Storage

One thing that people appreciate about a good 3 wheel double buggy is the storage capacity. Some models, such as the Roma Atlas, have a large basket and two zip pockets on the hood, where you can keep your phone and keys. It's also designed to deal with rough terrain, making it a great choice for family walks and all-terrain walks.

Other models, like the UPPAbaby Vista 2, offer plenty of space and possibility of transporting twins or a toddler and a child. (This is made possible by their 'PiggyBack' board). It's the most compact side-by-side double on the market and comes with some impressive technology that includes games-changing LED lights on both sides of the frame to increase safety in low light conditions.

Its clever frame expands widthways to accommodate a second seat, but it only weighs about 11kg, which makes it easy to move and lift. It can be used with a car seat, carrycot, or both. This allows you to enjoy the best of both worlds.
